Watermelon Daydream

I painted this the other day to distract me from Melbourne's coldest day this year and the fact that my wisdom teeth were causing me trouble.
I like it a lot because it reminds me of my old apartment in Brisbane and warm summer rain.

Sunday Sketches (Another City, Another Workspace)

It's been way to long since I last updated this blog, but I have a pretty good reason! I just moved all the way from Brisbane to Melbourne! (for those of you not familiar with Australian cities that's nearly half way across the country) A big move is always so stressful and time consuming but it seems worth it now that I'm settled, plus Melbourne is a really good city for creative people (like myself) and I'm about to start studying for an illustration degree, which is super exciting! Anyway, I thought It might be nice if I gave you a little glimpse of my workspace and apartment. I'm not 100% unpacked and moved in yet so I'll show you some more pictures when I am.

As well as all of this, I'm also about to be a part of another music/art show in Brisbane in early march (I thought I'd give you a little sneak peek of the stuff I've been working on for this, which you can see in the bottom picture) It's called "exhale" it's a fund raiser for International Women's Day (with all of the proceeds going to Zig Zag young women's resource centre) and will feature lots of talented female artists, photographers and musicians. 

It's happening on the 8th of March at Bleeding Heart. Tickets are $10 (or $15 at the door) and you can find info and tickets here. If you're in the area I really hope you can make it, it'll be really good!

I've put literally everything from my art cupboard up for sale on my etsy because I'm moving interstate next year and I need to a) Reduce the amount of stuff I own and b) raise money because I'm super poor.

The sale goes until mid january, and after it ends I will be taking everything that's left over down from my etsy forever so if there's something you've been wanting now's the time to get it!

Suitcase Rummage, Woodland Christmas Tags and Forest Cat

Hello everyone! I'm going to selling a bunch of stuff at the suitcase rummage this sunday for real cheap (under $25) including:
- original artworks (the ones pictured here)
- prints
- my new zine
- cards
- brooches
- necklaces
- Lavander cats

It's at Reddacliffe Place (at the top of Queen Street mall) and goes from 12pm - 4pm. If you live in Brisbane you should come along and say hello (or buy some stuff ha ha)

I've also designed a couple of christmas tags (which I've been wanting to do since last year but never got around to doing until now) which are available as a printable pdf in my shop if you wanted to buy them.

As you can see in my new paintings I've recently started working with a new bolder/earthier colour pallet. I quite like how they turned out (especially the girl with the sketch book) Also, this paintings are much smaller than I'm used to, only A5! I quite like working in this smaller size though.

Zine!

I made a zine. It's called "Woodland Ladies" and it's a little collection of drawings and comics about animal ladies who live in the woods. You can get it from my etsy if you like.

Every Day It's The Same (and realism)

I finished a new artwork (a bigger more coloured version of the girl from my sketchbook) as well as some more realistic pencil drawings for my portfolio (I figured it couldn't hurt to have an indication of my technical skills))

Ours and Yours

Here are the pictures I did for "Ours and Yours"*. It was such a lovely night with beautiful calm music (My favourites were Winter Solstice and The Forty Thieves) and a really cosy atmosphere with lanterns and lamps and cushions all over the floor.

Ours and Yours

I designed this poster for an event that's happening at The Box in West End on thursday night. I'll be exhibiting my art along with some other cool artist and photographers, there'll be some lovely folk musicians playing their tunes as well, and there'll also be yummy baked goods. If you're going to be in the Brisbane area this thursday night you should definitely come along, It'll be really fun!

Blue Island Press

I'm super excited because Blue Island Press have made a range of greeting cards with my illustrations on them!
I got some in the mail yesterday and they're printed on really nice textured paper (the photographs don't do them justice). They're only available for wholesale online, but I'll be putting them on my etsy and you should be able to find them in stores across Australia, New Zealand and the UK real soon.

Campfire

I've been really busy lately with university assessments and stuff, so I haven't really had time to make art or update my blogs or anything in the last two weeks, but I thought I'd show you a couple of pictures I've been working on. The bottom two are for the poster of an event I'm involved in, and the first one was just for fun!

Sketchbook Sunday (Plus Sewing Adventures)

I thought I'd share a few pages of my sketchbook (some of these sketches might eventually turn into finished pictures)

Also I did a little bit of sewing recently, and I made a padded case for my external hard drive (the top one: It's got cats on it!) and a little pouch for all the cords and chargers I had floating around my drawer. I'm thinking about making a few more pouches/pencil cases to sell on etsy because I have all this nice fabric and I don't know what to do with it.

It was such a lovely warm, sunny, breezy day today. Perfect for just lazing around and listening to music (not so good for getting things done but I've been so busy for the last couple of weeks I felt like I needed some down time) so I thought I'd make a playlist of some of the songs I've been listening to lately:

Self Portrait

I drew this self-portrait for the home page of my website, which I am currently in the process of building for a university assessment. I'm pretty happy with it even though it doesn't 100% look like me.
